Jia Qin

Distinguished Research Fellow at China Institute for Visual Studies of China Academy of Art

Born in Yan’an in 1980, Jia Qin started cross-genre writing in 2000 and released his first digital fiction Five-Volume Book through Toshiba SD cards in 2007. His other publications include A Dictionary of Modernist Literature (New World Press, 2010), The Gorgeous Tiger’s Stripes (Preparation of the Dictionary) (The Writers Publishing House, 2019), Yi Tao (One Villain and 49 Horses, 2020), and Nine Questions (Shanghai Literature and Art Publishing House, 2022). Jia is also one of the chief editors of the book collection Wooden Bell Literature, in which he systematically introduces the Oulipo genre to Chinese readers for the first time.

He graduated from Xiamen University in Art Management (BA) and China Academy of Art in Curatorial Studies (MA).He was involved in the creation of AXIS Art Project in 2015. Its first exhibition is "The Possibility of An Island", and the second exhibition "The Amoy Meat Factory" was selected by the Emerging Curators Project of Power Station of Art. The third exhibition "Pro-performance Society" is in progress. In 2016, he founded the independent art space 404 Not Found Lab, which has developed a series of community-based theatre-art practices in Houtian, Xiamen.

Research Interests: anthropology of morality and ethics, medical anthropology, child rearing, psycho boom, family and intimacy, disability studies. Fiber Artist

Born in Wuhan, Hubei, now lives and works in Hangzhou. She graduated from Hubei Institute of Fine Art (BA), Maryland Institute College of Art (Post-Bacc), and the School of Art Institute of Chicago (MFA). Now she is a Ph.D candidate in the Fiber Art Department of China Academy of Art and teaches in the Fiber Art Department. After living and pursuing studies in France for 10 years, she returned to China and now lives in Hangzhou.She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at the Institute of Contemporary Art and Social Thought at the China Academy of Art. Her research directions come from the interconnected problematic fields of History & Iconology, Games & Arts, Surrealism & European Avant-Garde Movements. She has curated "Play Societies: wolf, lynx and ants" (Hyundai Blue Prize winning exhibition, 2020) ,participated curating for « Inter-World-View 2019 », « Zhijiang International Youth Art Festival 2019 » in Hangzhou, and « Je vous salue, Hypnos ― Un voyage en Poesie-performance vers la nuit » at McaM.  She published in “New Arts”, “China photography”, “LEAP”, “The Thinker”, “Art China”, “Pengpai”, “Heichi”magazine, etc.  Her artistic work  was recently exhibited at China Port Museum, OCAT Institute, CACP Villa Perochon(FR), Jimei X Arles, Lianzhou Foto Festival.

Zian Chen is a curator and one of the editors for Made in Public (2022), Olympic Reveries (2021), and Arrow Factory: The Last Five Years (2020). He was among the founding editorial team for Heichi Magazine, (2020-22). He also co-curated exhibitions at Nida Art Colony (2022), MadeIn Gallery (2021), Long March Space (2018-19), and Times Museum (2018).

Shi Bing was born in 1989 in Liaoning. He graduated from the School of Sculpture and Public Art of China Academy of Art (CAA) and obtained a master's degree in fiber art. He now lives Hangzhou and works at the Department of Fiber Art of CAA. Shi Bing's work explores the imbalance of individual lives in the real world, examines the ontological properties of the human being in an anachronistic state.
