In 2021, Xinbei Youzhang Art Museum presented Yang Chi-Chuan’s installation Small House at the exhibition “Housing Things: Compilations, Gatherings, and Practices Shared in An Art Space”. Developed from imagination around the mold in the small house, the work orbits the idea that scents and sounds could act as the house’s soul and consciousness and thus depict its proper memory and sensation.

Working together with sound engineers, the artist designed and recorded a wide range of sounds, such as the slightest touch, yawns, sighs, a few isolated words and phrases, and various sounds in nature. Multichannel surround sound technology was employed in the installation. Along the walls were tens of sound installations and interlaced audio cables, climbing. The house was anthropomorphized, with the bounces and spatters of sound regarded as its pulsations and thoughts.

This time, at "Being Theoria: The 4th Hangzhou Triennial of Fiber Art 2022", the installation will be like an "intracerebral space" that spreads over all the nerves, imperceptibly and constantly, sharing the whispers of memories and thoughts to everyone who enters it.
