Ecto-entad was created by Wang Xu during his stay in Jingdezhen in 2020. On a circular mechanical device that can rotate on its own, the performer’s body rotates along with the circular machinery while the clay is held stationary in the centre of the circle. While rotating, the performer's body experience the centrifugal force released outwards by the machinery, meanwhile, the friction with the clay requires an opposite force to be released inwards toward the body. On this device, the performer repeats the process of artisan pottery making.
