Chen Han (born in 1970, Fuqing, Fujian Province), is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Sculpture and Public Art of China Academy of Art, member of China Sculpture Institute, Zhejiang Distinguished Expert, member of “Zhejiang Thousand Talents Program”, and director of Zhejiang Environmental Artists Association. He studied in Japan for more than a decade and earned a PhD in Fine Arts from the Tokyo University of the Arts. He has won the Hakujitsu-kai Exhibition Hakujitsu Award from Japan, the Modern Asian Art Exhibition Seibo Kitamura Award and other domestic and international art awards, and has held several solo exhibitions in Japan. Chen Han is concerned about the potential for taxtile expression of art in materials based on oriental esthetics and has developed the study and teaching of “orientalism” in sculpture, exploring the poetic expression of oriental material in contemporary art.
