Wu Wei

    Wu Wei was born in 1981 in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, China. In 2012, he earned an MFA from the Experimental Art Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts and now lives in Beijing. Wu Wei's works are full of desire and the tactile sensation, involving topics of civilization, barbarism, and mythology. He is often looking for new feelings and possibilities within the various conditions of materials and space.
He won the Top Prize of the 6th Anniversary Saint Angelo Shiny Artists Ceremony in 2015, also the Art Trend Award in the 3rd New Star Art Festival in 2012. He joined international art residencies for several times in Vienna, Austria and Berlin, Germany. His works have been exhibited in Tang Contemporary Art (Bangkok), Whitebox Art Center (Beijing), Power Station of Art (Shanghai), Art Museum of Nanjing University of the Art, Minsheng Art Museum (Beijing), Leonard Pearlstein Gallery (Philadelphia), Asian library of University of British Columbia (Vancouver,), XC.HuA Gallery (Berlin), Migrant Bird Space (Berlin), Fulc art space (Vienna) and many other art spaces. Public collections include Beijing Minsheng Art Museum, CAFA Art Museum, Whitebox Art Center, Today Art Museum, Being3 Art Foundation, and other institutions.
