Contradiction
Contradiction is a work from two elements but which are total opposites. The garbage bag is a daily object in everyday use and comes in several colors and sizes. It can be purchased at a low price in any supermarket, is commercially produced in seconds and has no value.
Hand embroidery is an art of decorative fabric, a painting of the needle and thread, but it has a long history in countries around the world, and it requires a lot of time and experience to acquire such skills.
However, the garbage bag is destined to receive the waste of our consumer society before it even be thrown in a larger trash.
By bringing hand embroidery and garbage bags together, the process of stitching magnifies the garbage bag’s support; it adorns it and gives it value. In addition, the pattern chosen is allegorical.
The lotus, pure and elegant, is rooted in the depths of the water and flowers on their surface. When fully open, lotus is a symbol of development.
